3 Hour Sea Kayak Adventures

Paddle the Marsh

This three hour adventure leaves from our public put in and heads towards the large marsh northeast of Indian River. This area is home to an abundant variety of plants and animals. If your lucky you may see a Bald Eagle or Osprey that fish the surrounding waters. With plenty of side estuaries and ponds to explore this is a great trip for beginners to intermediates and is perfect for kids too. It can be guided or unguided.

Paddle through Indian River

Starting at our public launch you will head down river and through the picturesque Town of Indian River.  Paddle your way past the many resort homes until your reach Burt Lake, one of the largest in Michigan. From there you can choose to either explore Burt Lake or head towards the Sturgeon River. This trip is offered in guided and unguided versions. If unguided, you will be picked up at the City Park on Burt Lake.

Explore Burt Lake

Burt Lake is one of the Top 5 largest lakes in Michigan. It is home to numerous resort communities and some of the best paddling in Northern Michigan. You will have your choice of launch points to experience this lake and all trips will finish from where you started.

Half Day Sea Kayak Trips

Through the Marsh

An extended version of our 3 hour trip where you will paddle towards Mullett Lake. We will stop for a light snack on a sandy point and continue around the shoreline to Sturgeon River Bay. From there, time permitting, we will explore the rivers estuary before we head back to Indian River.

Explore Poverty Bay and Bullhead Bay

Leaving from a public launch on Burt Lake, we will paddle around the point and into the pristine Poverty Bay.  This bay and its neighboring Bullhead bay are full of fun rivers and estuaries to explore and discover. Perfect for beginners to intermediates and kids!  A light snack will be provided.

We are happy to make a customized trip to any body of water in Northern Michigan. We do request a 2 week preparation period before the trip so we can figure out the logistics and itinerary for the adventure.

Full Day Sea Kayak Trips

Alanson Locks to Burt Lake

Start off at the Alanson boats Locks and paddle downstream through the picturesque riverside town of Alanson. Pass under the old swing bridge and listen to your guide tell you this history of this small town. This is a great adventure for everyone from novices to intermediate skilled paddlers.  A lunch will be provided by the Great Lakes Eco-Adventure Center along with snacks throughout the day.

Les Cheneaux Islands

One of the best kept secrets in Michigan especially for kayaking is the Les Cheneaux Islands. In French it means "Channel Islands." This area is a favorite resort community and has been for the past century. One unique thing about this area is it is home to one of the largest collection of antique wooden power boats in the world. They are fun to see when we are out on the water. This adventure is fully guided and a homemade lunch may be provided for a small extra fee. Some kayaking experience is required for this adventure.
